Whale Watching Tours

Every year Humpback whales migrate up the East Coast of Australia, and in June each year they give birth there carves in the tropical waters of the Coral Sea. On their return journey south they call into the sheltered waters of Hervey Bay to rest and play, a perfect opportunity to view the magnificent creatures in their world heritage listed natural environment. The Whale Watching season runs each year from late July to October, bookings are recommended to avoid disappointment. Following is a detailed list of vessels running this year.
During July to October, a tour out to see the mighty Humpback Whales of Hervey Bay is a "must-see ". Seeing a 45 tone animal launching itself effortlessly out of the water is a truly amazing sight.
There are tours to cater for all tastes. We can advise which tour will suit you best.

3 Hour Fast Tours.
This is a very fast boat! It’s an adrenalin packed boat trip and Whale watching in one.

Tasman Venture
This is a beautifully appointed vessel. 20 metres in length and a very stable 7.2 metres wide and cruises at an impressive 26Knts. Includes morning and afternoon tea.
A complimentary Whales DVD as a souvenir of your trip. Excellent all round viewing decks and 2 underwater viewing rooms and the only water level viewing platform...

Quick Cat
Is 17 metres in length a good stable vessel. Includes morning and afternoon tea.
Good all round access for the disabled. Complimentary Children’s Activity/Project booklet. Tourism award winners 2001/2002. Underwater Viewing Camera. $115/$60.
Whale Song
Is 16 metres in length. New 2010. Includes a light breakfast on the morning cruse and a buffet style lunch on the afternoon cruse. Good all round viewing decks. $120/$60.

Spirit of Hervey Bay
Bay’s largest of the half day boat (20 metres) in the fleet. Has underwater viewing windows set into the hull of the boat so you can watch the whales underwater.$115/$60
Full Day Tours:
These will all pickup at the Happy Wanderer Village typically round 8am and return about 4.30pm.
Blue Dolphin
Is a 11.5 metre sailing cat leaving Urangan boat harbor at 7.30am and returning approx 4pm. This is a very gentle, stable vessel with ample room with covered viewing area. Limited to 22 passengers. Morning, afternoon tea and lunch all served on board. $120/$90.
Shayla
Is a 10.5 metre sailing cat Leaving Urangan boat Harbour at 8.00am and returning aprox 4pm. This is a very gentle, stable vessel with ample room with covered viewing area. Max of 30 people. Morning, afternoon tea and lunch all served on board. $105/$75.
3/4 Day Tours:
3/4 Day Whale Watch tours have the great advantage of allowing you time for a sleep in (let's remember you're here on holiday) and a return in time to get ready to go out for dinner in the evening. They are fast boats, which can get you out to the viewing area quickly and comfortably. All pickup at the Happy Wanderer Village.
M.V. Mikat
A 20 metre very stable cat. Departing at 9am and returning about 2.30pm. Good all round viewing decks. Lunch is a cold buffet of fresh salads, cold meats and fresh bread rolls. $120/$80.
Freedom III
A 18metre stable cat. Departing 9.30am and returning 3.30pm. Good all round viewing. Tropical buffet lunch served on board, morning and afternoon tea. $125/$80
