About Hervey Bay
Hervey Bay is situated 3 hours drive north of Brisbane, or you may fly from Brisbane in 45 minutes, also daily flights from Sydney taking 85 min.
It has a population of 52,000 people.
It was originally made up of five small towns (Urangan, Torquay, Scarness, Pialba and Point Vernon) that were settled as holiday destinations for people from Maryborough and the outlying areas. These five towns form the suburban centres for Hervey Bay, now that the place has grown to the point where the original villages have merged with each other.
Hervey Bay today is strung along 14 klms of sweeping, unspoilt beach. The sea is safe and without surf, being sheltered by Fraser Island.
